Sign of Jonah
03:58
|
|
||
They used to sing -
“Compel us with your acts
Miracles and magic
Heal our sick"
Do everything we ask
To prove to us
your godliness”
He said -
“oh this generation is an evil one,
you ask for a sign to see.
How long have I been here?
When will you see the sign is me?!
For the queen of the south will rise.
let it be clear.
For she traveled far with a man in her eyes
something greater than a man is here.
so now we pray -
If we wait like those of ninivah
To the sea the throw us into
We’ll gladly be like jonah
Swallowed up, but at least we’ll know you.
I feel my heart aching for a confirming display
for my heart to cleave
Yet, I tell my self to be your clay.
And asked you’d be the only sign I need.
Tossed back a forth
like a boat in the ocean blue
Give us to the fish Let us be eaten quick
Swallowed up, but at least we’ll know you.
Swallowed up, but at least we’ll know you.
so we pray –
"compel us with your love
son from above
kill our pride
do whatever you please
to call our hearts
back to your side."

Let the Dead
07:14
|
|
||
Let the dead sing, out of these aching bodies, we will still scream. With our bones still frail, and voice incomplete, we find our graves becoming empty.
You say your making all things new.
And you tell us, you’re bringing us back to you.
We’ll sing cause we’re free, this decay's compared nothing to your glory, With hope in our lungs
They’ll pump praise til our hearts are done beating
Romans 8.18-24
"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience."
We wait, our bodies groan with creation
and the weight, of these fitting contractions,
await, with the world's anticipation
and the fate of our own soul's redemption,
and we feel it. we feel it. we feel it. we all feel it.
we sing cause we're free knowing these are more than chords and harmonies
bring us back to You.

The Weight
04:12
|
|
||
i lay my head down at night.and all my sin comes rushing back to my head.i cant seem to shake the thoughts,even when i know youre all i could need instead.it breaks my heart to see myself on the other side.when i am blind,i hate everything ive justified.ive done so well to convince myself that its not that bad, but ill be back to feel the result of the sin ive had.
this is the sound of my heart screaming out crying out
this is the sound of my praise screaming out crying out in desperation.

Bird's Law
04:53
|
|
||
My faith is weak
And I barely speak
I need a song, a song to sing.
The birds they preach
Cause you cover their beak
Let em sing, let em
Sing so sweet
The song that I need
Let the birds preach to us
Tell us we’re wrong
Let the birds preach to us
They’re singing your song
We sing when we can
Only the songs we choose to sing
Yet our voices shouldn’t stop
But it stops, it stops.
We should sing anything.

Absalom
04:02
|
|
||
you've taken my sister desecrating our name.
you've taken my sister for you own selfish gain.
she fought. and told you to stop, my God she tried.
you were a coward but strong, and my God did she cried.
----------
I call down hatred. from my heart on your head,
and righteously/gladly take your blood on my hands.
my heart. finds it hard to regret.
the death of an unrighteous man.
----------
though this hatred may be justified
in my in my eyes.
though my hands are clean and i'll be fine
in my in my eyes.
God make a righteous man out of me

"Foley’s heart is in the message and in it’s raw delivery: Lead singer Jay Hendrickks’ songwriting hinges on his endless search for salvation and the beleaguered path of sin paving his way. He will scream his way to a song’s crescendo, the pain and yearning palpable, before you’re lulled back to the chorus." - via FreeTimes Jan 2012 ... more
